  • steering wheel vibration after wheel spacers install

I'm currently running 10mm spacers on front and ever since after one week I experience steering wheel vibration traveling over 80km/h.
I drive a 2004 VR6. Any advice, much appreciated, thx

Everything is mounted nice and flat? Spacers centred on hubs? Lugs all torqued down evenly? Do anything to bend wheel or affect alignment/balance lately? If you've lent your car out maybe someone isn't telling you something

I run spacers year round - haven't had an issue yet.

Ok - maybe you've got a wheel out of balance or something then.

Right now, 3mm up front & 15mm out back. Backs are rubbing so I'm swapping the 15's for 13's... hopefully that will do it.

I'm betting wheel out of balance.

MechEngg, correct me if I'm wrong.

I would thing that since spacers push the wheel out farther any vibration would have more leverage, therefore being more noticeable?

I have the exact same issue. Tried different spacers, got wheels balanced, wheels aligned... And it's still doing it.

Did you retorque your lugs after install? (star pattern)

Wheels may/may not be out of balance. I was paranoid as hell about the vibration I had over 110km/h which then disappeared. I had to remove both front wheels to cut my sway, after re-installing the wheels the vibration was almost non existent, after retorque the vibration is gone.

Re: steering wheel vibration after wheel spacers install

Are the wheels hub centric AND wheel centric??? my suggestion is just take the wheels off and try again. most likely its just not sitting PERFECTLY so if you retry you'll probably get it right and wont get vibrations anymore.
