on a TDI or Gas, is it the norm probably change belt every 100,000 km. Kinda like any vehicle?

yes 5 years max IMO
i can't find it but there was a thread last year where i guy found a b5 S4 that some old man bought and left it in his garage.. the guy passed away and the car went up to auction..
car had under 5k on it!!! it was like brand new
anyways long story short..the new owner changed the timing belt and the OG timing belt literally crumbled in his hands due to age rot..
i do all my cars 100-115k
