  • OK, next mod question (ss kit)

The post Christmas itch is getting to me, and the lack of snow in the mountains for snowboarding has forced me to start buying my spring mods for the car. I picked up an Autotech 28mm RSB today, and am looking at the Dieselgeek SS kit. I have the 6sp tranny, but I'm not sure if I want their regular or race kit. Does anyone on here have either kit, and would let me do a few parking lot shifts to test the feel and throw? If not, I guess I'll gamble and go with the race, keeping my old core for when I eventually sell the car.

The C1 SS is supposed to be very good. Some guy on the vortex reviewed a bunch of them and it was his first or second choice. The Neuspeed was his next choice, but the price was pretty high. Just a thought as C1 is so close.

The DG race is the kit that almost everyone goes with.
      huh?

Diesel geek shifter reduces the left-right throw, while all the others only reduce up-down throw (I think). Installation instructions look complex, if you don't do it right your shifter will feel weird.

I was under the impression that the C1 only works with the 5sp trannies. If I'm wrong on this one, someone please correct me.

Diesel Geek race shifter is awesome! the installation is so easy a monkey could do it. If you order it you will not regret it.

I believe you are correct about the C1, I do not think it works with 6 sp.

Sorry, my bad. I didn't know that the C1 isn't compatible with the 6 speed.

Where are you guys getting your TT ss from?

whats the deal with the short shifters. some say they arent good for daily driving...are the shifts that small that its bothersome or something? This might be a new mod for me to think about

the reason people say this is because the shorter the throw, the notchier it becomes. it will lose that stock smooth feeling. I would choose the TT shifter out of all of them, because its not that agressive so it still feels somewhat stock.

i drove pat's car a few times with the C1 w/ 40% reduction, and yes the shifts are drastically reduced, it's too notchy for me and feels like you have to force it in gear.

I don't find mine notchy anymore (I have C1 on 40%) with a 1.5 inch cut shifter. My wife doesn't mind it either. But like anything, you stop noticing it after awhile (if I could reduce it another 40% of what it is right now, I would ).

I did run through the gears in a showcar last time I was at the dealer - felt like I was rowing a boat.

I have the D.G. Race and it feel sreally smooth... only slightly notchier than the stock. Awesome purchase.
