  • 7 weeks without my car

    Hey guys,

Bought a 2002 1.8T Jetta from fifth Ave last yr and i have been waiting for replacement coil packs for 7 WEEKS. This is the second time it has been in for coil packs. I think when i ordered my car it took less than 7 weeks!!

Does anyone know what i can do or what the hell is going on?

I've spoken with the dealership and VW Canada numerous times and i keep getting the same answer (when we here from the supplier we will let you know). Apparently there is a coil pack manufacturer somewhere that needs to hire some new engineers and operations managers!!

    JP,

It totally sucks what you're going through, and I'm sorry on behalf of VWC for that.

I suspect I will be going through the same thing shortly too.

    Here's the lowdown...

Most North American 1.8T's for late 2002, early 2003 are experiencing coil pack failures (VW & Audi!). In November, VW/Audi shipped 15,000 coil pack units to dealers across North America. unfortunately, it wasn't enough, and they are working diligently with the supplier to produce these as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, there were obviously a lot more than 15,000 failures nation wide. They recognize the problem and are working on it. I promise.

I hate that you can't drive your car...

Didn't you buy your car from John McNicoll?

      Another thing...

I'd wager that much of the waiting time has been spent investigating why the problem occurs, and solving it so it doesn't happen again...

wow, 7 weeks,...that's total crap, don't get me wrong , I love my dub, but VW seems to be really slow with parts, it took 5 weeks for them just to get me a piece for my door latch, although it wasn't such a big deal as I could still drive it and it wasn't my door . Hmmm... just a thought, have you asked them if they could get some coilpacks from a car in stock and replace those l8r??? On the brighter side, at least your car gets a break from the winter driving and you get to try out a

Hahaha!! Fifth ave would love me if i did that. Someone already wrote an email to fifth ave complaining that i was driving to fast on Deerfoot. I had no idea the TDI was so fast. I told the manager "Drivers Wanted". Hahah!
