Car not starting - need help

Some time last week my car decided it did not want to start. It tried to turn over, but it seemed like it wasn't getting any fuel. Do to the KM's (133,000km) I thought it was the fuel pump. I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and the spark plugs and she fired up with no issues. Since then I have been driving it with no issues, until today.

Today it decided it did not want to start again. Again, it tries to turn over, but it just doesn't want to fire up. I can't think of any other reason why it won't start.

The car in question is a 2003 1.8T

Any thoughts?

Fuel pump relay? they are pretty common to fail - try jumping it. If you cant hear the fuel pump run then its something else.

Do you hear the pump running when cranking?

Do you have spark?

Will it not start and then if you leave it for a bit it will fire back up? Or it just won't go no matter what? I had issues with mine not starting (and also dying and couldn't get it going for a while) turned out to be the cam/speed sensor.

I also had another issue of not starting but it was 2 coilpacks going at THE EXACT SAME TIME, but as you can imagine it was easy to tell I had fuel.

I read on-line that people often experience stuttering while driving or poor ideling when the fuel pump relay starts to go. I did not experience either. Does this rule out the relay?

I just went outside again and tried to fire it up and it started.....it still hesitated a bit before firing up, but once it started it ran perfectly fine......I'm confused

If it is starting on and off there is a good chance that something is going wrong with a relay as stated above. If it is intermittent eventually you will be driving when it cuts out and your car will sputter and die so just pull off to the side of the road. This JUST happened to will on vortex

I would scan and check for pending codes

I am now leaning towards cam/crank sensor - both can cause a no start. Especially once the car warms up

Crank position sensor.

Fuel pump relay will cause stuttering while driving, experienced it the whole way back from vegas last year.

Weird.

Yesterday I got a call from my Dad, went to buy groceries in his allroad (2.7T) yesterday came out, refused to start. Would crank, and sort of catch, but just wouldn't fire up, supposedly. He called a tow truck and me. By the time I got there, he went to show me what was up and it fired right away. Hasn't had any sort of driving issues in the slightest prior, he got a CEL three maybe four weeks ago was on for maybe 10 minutes and then went away hasn't come back. Going to get it scanned this week. We have been driving it all day today and it is running perfectly.
