  • P0171 Bank 1 Lean Code 1.8T

So car was running fine with a broken breather tube. Finally got around to ordering an entire 034 kit. (Breather tube, Y-tube, crank case breather section billet PCV). All felt good so I drove it a bit filled it up and then the lean code started. I have re-tightened all the clamps and still nothing.

    A few symptoms:
Ideal jumps around a bit between 750-900. (not super smooth)
Boost gauge reads 10inHg at start up but as soon as I apply gas and let it settle it goes to 19inHg suction.
Still boosts to 12 Psi on hard acceleration.

    Thoughts?

Path forward going to try and put the original PCV back in.
Could it be the Puck valve? I took it off and cleaned it seemed to be working fine.

You have a vac leak. You need to do a pressure test, perhaps someone here could help you out with that. I don't have access to a compressor but I can give you a link as to what to do: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...d-Vacuum-Leaks

You may find your pcv valve to be toast, but likely there are just other leaks you have yet to repair. Ultimately only this test can tell you for sure.

Of course this is all provided you don't have cooked coils that don't let your car idle worth a damn (which would likely produce a misfire code).

Put the old PCV back in, seems the 034 billet PCV was just a bit too tough to open. Seems to idle and run find now.

When I get a chance I will replace a bunch of the vac hoses because they are getting hard.
