VAG-COM Scan. How to tell if your DV is bad.

Hey guys a friend scanned my car last night and it says there is a drop in boost pressure between the turbo and the throttle valve and recommends checking the Diverter valve. Basically I just wanna know how to tell if its bad.

Do you have a boost gauge?

A) look/listen for vacuum leaks at idle.
B) Take the DV out of the intake boot and see if there is vacuum pulling in the diverter valve.
C) Try a working one from another car.

Any other ideas?

Remove the gauge, press the diaphram up/piston up depending on the style and while it is pressed up use your finger to plug off the top vacuum line. If the diaphram/piston holds in place then its still good. If it goes back to the original spot and you hear a gushing of air then your DV isn't working correctly.

i have a stock diverter valve from my car with 120,000 km on it, i have the forge hybrid now so you can have it

i also have a DV valve with 150xxx on it. free for anyone that needs it or to keep as spare

Alot of the time that code shows its just a boost leak somewhere 2/3 cars I've seen with that code haven't been dv issues. One was a leak at the pancake and the other had one at the turbo out let and around the map

Thanks for the input guys, I'll give everything a test. Unfortunately I don't have a boost gauge yet or this would be easier, pretty limited this summer for money as I'm paying off my student line of credit before I go back to SAIT in the fall. If anyone has an old boost gauge they wanna sell I'd buy it.

when i had issues with my dv, my symptoms were when i gave it gas would stutter, like seem to not get enough gas.

Have you pressure tested your intake tract ?
