50 is speed limit in urban areas in europe
some newer cars now have a red line on the 130 too which is the speed limit on the german autobahn where it's limited

50km is the general urban speed limit. It translates to 30mph, cars on this side of the pond have the same mark as that is the general speed limit in residential/built up areas.

Ive set cruise control at at 30km (school zone) on my MK4..not gone lower.... hmmm.

ah young'ins........... Since 80% of Canadian rural roads have a speed limit of 50k/hr, they put that at 50 to give you a gauge. Just like the raised dot on the #5 on a keypad........

My Audi has a red line at 50km/h and also has one at 130km/h. The 50km/h one I can understand but the 130km/h?
