  • MK4 - 50Km/h Red Line on the Speedometer?

From my understanding this is the mark for the lowest point you can set cruise control. Anyone else come up with anything different?

lol, GLI doesnt even have the line but I'm interested to see what others had come up with to justify the line, I know in my old jetta I got asked a bunch on times and had no idea.

anything below the red line is where road rage on deerfoot kicks in.

ah young'ins........... Since 80% of Canadian rural roads have a speed limit of 50k/hr, they put that at 50 to give you a gauge. Just like the raised dot on the #5 on a keypad........

Yup I have only heard in the past that it is used for a standard speed limit for unmarked urban roadS

In my old benz it has a single tick at 60 and a double tick at 100 mph. Since it has no tach, these are the speeds you can safely achieve in first gear and second gear respectively.

Thats just the benz though. Since Jettas do have a tach, it's just a notation to show the speed limit on most residential/unmarked roads.

I posted up the same question:

                              http://www.eurodrivers.ca/forums/sho...ed+mark+speedo

We came up with it being a common speed point, some other cars have up to three red marks.
