  • Coolant issues

Hey guys needed a second opinion

On my way to school today my coolant light started to flash,
I had zero coolant under pressure and when slowly releasing pressure I ha d
Minimal coolant. I have checked my lines for leaks and none were present I topped up
My coolant once and again and went for a drive ad it's slowly going away again. I feel like my
Head gasket is leaking. It has not over heated as I have always made sure coolant is present somewhat. No white smoke though. And my top rad hose is hot and my lower hose is not as hot but not cold by any means. I feel it is still circulating and is not my water pump. Previously I has done my coolant temp sensor and thermostat. Any other suggestions ? My next thing is doing a compression test.

Please let me know what you guys think

I'd look around at the coolant lines on the turbo and the banjo bolt on the rear of the block , head gasket is not common on these motors, do you notice any spots on the ground ?

Add coolant to your system. Could be leaking my the water pump o-ring, that is the typical leak point for 1.8t's, especially if you did the install yourself

I didn't do the water pump my self. Just noticed leaks on my driveway as it was raining this morning. There's coolant on a plastic pipe coming from the right side of the block just by the coolent temp sensor. Is that common? I'm guessing that's where the coolant exits the engine and goes to the rad to get cooled

Ah well at least it might be an easy replaceable item. Coolant flange o-ring probably if its between the housing and block

                      Re: Coolant issues

Have a oil leak from above this flange by chance? Will swell the seal and cause the leak if you do...

it's probably your cam tensioner seals... not a easy job if you dont know what your doing and have the tool to compress your tensioner..... it's common on 1.8t
