  • Advice on intakes

    Hello everyone.
I'm sorry, it tried to search for info on this, but I couldn't find anything. I was looking into getting the plastic CAI from Evolution Motorsports, but my friend told me not to get any kind of intake cuz it would mess up my MAF sensor( which he told me was really expensive too.) anybody here have the EVO intake? can you please let me know how it worked out for you? thanks in advance..

only issue with MAFs going dead is if the filter is over oiled. I have the EVO on my 1.8T and have had it for over the last 20000km and have cleaned it once now and my MAF is fine.

But your friend is right in that if you change intakes you may not get warranty coverage if your MAF does die (for other reasons, it's shitty part and dealers look for any excuse to make you pay for it).

There are tons of stock intake people with dead mafs on vortex. So be careful. You could always switch the stock box back on I suppose...

In theory it won't mess up your MAF, the only thing thats moving through the intake is air. If you do over-oil your reusable filter it can cause problems.
