What kind of diesel did you get? Yes you can get TDIs in the new Passat, even with manuals I think too.

1450? Good god. I got 960 going from Edmonton to Panorama and back, made it to Olds. Think I could have made it a touch further, but I was driving kind of hard.

2600km is madness.

Yeah my personal best was 970. But that was driving to Vancouver island. Made it to abbotsford from Sundre. After filling I could only fit 50 liters in, which means I still had about another 100 kms to run it dry.

I have gotten over 1300 km on a tank several times. I always get over 900 km a tank in just city driving back and forth to work. The best mileage always comes when you are driving straight through....The cold start mileage is not great compared to what you get when things are warmed up.

Our of curiosity what's the break in time for a new engine. I have 3000km on the golf and I'm getting around 860km to a tank. Been mostly city driving

My best (also my first tank) got me about 900 km from Calgary to Vancouver, the car had two people and the rear seats to the trunk was jammed full of books and luggage.
