  • Beware!

Ok so i replaced the springs on my car a little while ago and as i knew i was due for an alignment after, so on the weekend the only place open was Canadian tire so i decided i would take it there...big mistake. turns out they called me an hour later saying the alignment wouldn't hold with out new tie rods. so i got them to replace these and went to go pick up my car (the next day i might add because the alignment machine broke ) so anyway, the alignment looked good when i picked it up but the said my caster was off by as much as a degree but they couldn't fix it so i cut my losses and walked away. then today (about 2 weeks later) i was having some severe rubbing issues that i knew were more then fender rub so i took my wheel off and i saw some pretty bad metal rubbing on my sway bar from my axle from my tire being so far forward (bad caster) or so i thought... i investigated more as saw that only one of the three bolts were attached to the lock plate on the lower control arm.

so pretty much they missed two bolts which made my hub hardly attached to my control arm. this created rubbing, bad caster and a hell of a time trying to find a "bent piece" creating the horrible caster.
so in conclusion DON'T GO TO CANADIAN TIRE
    I'm bay curious.

just took mine to Tunedub for alignment....I've never in my life had work done at a Canadian Tire. I buy lots of stuff there though. Sorry that happened man!

            Re: Beware!

I don't know why anybody even thinks to go there. Oh well. But as a side note I can't think of why they would have touched those bolts, even if they replaced tie rod ends. My guess is that they rounded a tie rod nut so they couldn't perform the alignment then charged you for their "mechanics" error. But honestly they shouldn't have touched those bolts at all, are you sure you put them back in all the way after you swapped the springs?

                Re: Beware!

Take it to Kaltire by Chinook. I got to be in the back and make sure that everything was good and set correctly, plus the chick was super nice about it all. And danny, you shouldn't have the same result because they don't even touch the ball joints. BTW i am going to stop by at around noon for a bit to take a look at Eric's car and bring my spacers.

Where did you get that from? lol. Yes you will need an alignment, you just wont have the ball joint problem that Eric had.

                      Re: Beware!

Take it to Kal Tire on 32nd Ave NE (east of barlow). The manager there is Chad, he is a member on here. I went there after reading positive reviews posted by Blair in another thread. Very professional and have already recommended others to take their cars there.
