i popped my tail lights out today because i accidentally dropped a bulb inside of it and i was wondering if there was a way to paint the stock golf tail lights so they appear to be like a gti tail (with the smoked turn signal). I looked on the diy part of vortex and wasn't able to find much information, other than this one which is for an mk3 http://www.corrado-club.ca/mods/tailtints.html . anyways, would i have to paint the outside of the taillights like this guy in the diy link? or would there be a way to paint the inside. if not, i may just have to settle to pick up some gti tails somewhere.

I'd just get OEM tails if it were me! Check out Volx Tuning they have Ocean Tails for GTI for a good price.Last edited by jaysleeves; 04-25-2012, 07:42 AM.Bagged 2004 Jetta GLS 1.8T Stage 2 Unitronic, 2016 Tiguan R-Line , S13 SR20DET, Mk2 VR6 Project, 2011 Dodge Ram 1500

Re: smoked tail's question.
Save yourself the headache of "Testing" things out, and just save up for OEM. In the end, OEM will ALWAYS look better over whatever kind of spray/technique you will find. And if you're saving up for OEM, do something that suits your style:
EX. OEM GTI, OEM Ocean, Euro OEM, Hella smoked tails, whatever you want!Patryk

Re: smoked tail's question.
Being that I'm cheap and I only owned this car for a short time, I used VHT nightshades and it turned out alright. For a jetta though. Just mask off whatever you want to keep red. I say you do this while you wait for legit GTI tails to ship to your door
