I'm thinking my FK cup kit is starting to go as the shocks seem to be a little more harsh than last season. Maybe it's just going back to summer rims but I'm thinking it's time to upgrade. I like the drop the FK springs gave me so I'm either going to go with some Bilstein struts and shocks and keep the springs to preserve the current drop, or go coils. My question is which coils to get if I go that route. I'm thinking Bilstein or KW since it seems they are the only two that have lifetime warranties, unless there are other brands I haven't looked at. I'd like to raise it up to near stock height for winter (maybe a 1" drop) and probably down as low as 2.5" for summer. Is the valving on the non-adjustable models descent enough or do I go all in on an adjustable setup (pss9 vs ps, or kw1 vs kw2)?

Any feedback would be helpful. I've ridden on some kw1s that were turned down about half way and they rode pretty harsh. If they are all going to be like this then new shocks for my cup kit will be the way to go.

Keep in mind that you can get a brand new kit for next to nothing compared to what it cost us back in 2003/04.

$395 for brand new shocks + springs is a joke and I'd rock it any day of the week (8yrs and counting, daily driven year round in Saskatoon with no complaints):

Ya everything has gotten so cheap since I had my first mk4 in 2006, just don't get the c1 coils they are bouncy!

My Vogtlands ride nice. I seized the collars and they sent free replacement struts to my door directly from Germany.

So I can go higher in the winter. My current springs could be a touch higher on the front and are about perfect on the back. I mentioned that in my original post but I guess you didn't read that far

You're in Calgary, cup kit isn't really that bad in the winter

Seriously calgary isn't bad for lowered cars in the winter, maybe a day or 2 here and there where you snow plow

If your happy with your ride height now just grab shocks.

H&R and B&G are two to look at, high quality, great ride. It's a bad idea to cheap out on coils, you'll just end up replacing them with something better later on. Im on FK streetlines now and im looking at replacing them with H&R ultra lows before i scramble my brains bouncing around with my FK's.

I snowboard as much as possible so I'm not just in Calgary. This means those one or two days that low cars stay home the the days I'm most likely to skip out on work and head to the mountains. I had a couple days where I was plowing pretty good and nearly got stuck in the parking lot at Lake Louise. I have the 35/40 kit on my car but it's a VR6 so I'm around 1 finger gap in the front and 2 in the back. I think I would like to be a little higher than this for winter but would want to be the same or a touch lower in the summer. After doing a little more checking the KW are going to be too low so I'm now looking at Konis or Bilstein.

I really like my ST's, they're KW V1's with steel bodies instead of aluminum. Rears all the way down, no perches or collars, fronts all the way down with helpers still in....its a little rough but I'm pretty low for static! Had to cut my sway out!

Bumping back up. I put the summers on last night and I'm 25" from wheel arch to ground in the front and 25.5" on the rear. Anyone know if the PSS9 will go that high (or higher). I'm guessing at that height I can soften up the damping enough on them to get a similar ride to what I have now, then find the sweet spot for summer and bring them back up for winter. Am I crazy? Should I just put on some Bilstein Sports and call it a day? If anyone is running the sport struts or has some PSS9s and would be willing to take me for a short ride I'd appreciate it.
