New to modding, I need help!

okay so here is my mk4 so far. I've only done a couple mods to it, and I'm thinking of doing a couple more, but i have absolutely NO idea how to go about it.

Present Mods: New Projector headlights with 6000k Hid's, Window Tint, New 18' ikon 33 wheels, and a nice little euro plate.

now for the things i would like to do but have no idea how to do it: i would like to lower it about 1 or 1.5 inches for a clean drop, but don't know if i should just go for springs, or coilovers. i would also like to do something to the back of the golf, to make it a little different. i think i would like to de badge it,maybe get a 2.Slow badge somehow for jokes haha.
all of this^^ i have no idea how to do it or go about doing it, whats safe/unsafe to do.

now for performance, I'm not really too sure. i would like to get a nice subtle but noticeable sound to it, nothing ridiculous. but thats probably tough to do considering the 2.slow factor.

any suggestions from you guys that would spice this guy up a bit? I'm totally new to all of this.

I usually dont say this on these forums, but since you requested alot of info I really have no other choice. You need to search. I'm not trying to be a d!ck about it, but there is a ton of info on the internet regarding all these things (most of it on vortex). Dont post (cause most likely you'll get flamed for no good reason), just do a ton of reading. Once you have finally decided what you want, post back on here to ask for some help actually doing the deed.

I understand sometimes its tough/scary doing things to your car for the first time, but there is a bunch of very helpful people on this forum who are willing to help out for the price of a few beers. If you have specific questions, ask away, but very general questions will always be opinion based and never get you the answer that YOU are looking for.

I will give you a tip for the exhaust, send Bucky a pm on here. He has a 2.0 with an exhaust on it and it is a pretty decent sound. Not too abnoxious, not too quiet but I dont remember any of the details. He'll probably be able to help you out a bit.

I was rocking a magnaflo on my 2.0, sounded good and it was affordable, got it from planetmagnaflow.com and made an offer, a reasonable one and next thing I knew it was on its way.

hey Danaldson, welcome! if there is only one thing i could suggest then it would be a nice compound polish. Looks like your car needs it. Though not really a mod, i think it will do more for your car than making it sound nice.

Raceland coilovers are a good budget choice. MK4s are easy to do suspension on, 4-5 hours. I'm sure some members would be glad to help out for a 12 pack and some cash

I would agree on the polish, and if you wanted maybe trade the wheels and tires? Its your car and you can do what you want thats just my opinion. As for performance, its a 2.0 make it low, slow and for show and don't worry about dumping a lot of money into it. If performance is your cup of tea your money would be better spent, saving up for a 1.8t or vr6 car. Thats just my $0.02. O and Welcome!!

100% agree on the polish. Claybar and wax is your friend. The first VW show (Close to home) is Sunday May 6th, so guaranteed before then I will be having a claybar/wax party at my house. Since you've obviously close, I suggest stop by and see what its all about. When I chose the date i'll post up a thread for those who wanna come by for a beer or 2.

wow guys, I'm really impressed with all the support. I'm just some random dude haha. Thanks a lot for the information. i would definitely like to come down to one of these vw shows (even if my car isn't in it). i see all your thumbs and can already tell u guys' rides look sick. now that i think of it, i think the polish/wax is going to be first on my list. thanks!

Dont get too excited. I say do the polish after all the street cleaning is done and there wont be much more chance of snow (usually the last weekend of April)

If you're only planning on dropping it an inch or so I'd recommend a cup kit instead of coils. FK makes a descent setup if you want to save some money, H&R cup kits, or the Eibach kit would all be good options. Several members on here including myself could help you put them in.

And to be honest I kinda like those wheels. I think if you eliminated your wheel gap between your wheels and the fender they would actually look pretty sweet. If you want to add something to the back you might want to consider an R32 "wing" on the hatch if they fit. Not sure if the hatch is different for golfs but it might give it a slightly less dull look
