Bucky's Car (H&R cup kit, 19" wheels) next to Tracy's car (FK Cup Kit, 18" wheels) comparison

Bucky's is closest to the camera

I had those FK street line cheaper coilovers. I only had them spun down half way and the ride was just okish. Maybe I am getting to old to go so low. I might try out those ST coils the next go around though but first the cabby needs new coils

I like my ST's but have nothing to compare it too as its my first lowered MKIV. We should hook up and compare!

I say go with a cup kit! I've always used a Cup kit 1. because i'm to lazy to adjust suspension 2. I have no need
I just ordered another H&R cup kit for my mk6

                    ahh i miss my mk4

I needed to invest in a better camera back then. Not a great pic but had a 1 finger gap in the front and 2 on the back. Perfect for all year use

I uninstalled them and sold them when I wrote off my last golf. I am back to 20th AE suspension again.

Didn't you guys have problems in the winter with cup kits? How much did the kit lower your car front and back?

Back when I had my MK3, I had a 60/40 cup kit on it with a VR Valence, and it plowed all winter. Snow would get stuck in the fenders all the time and it just got annoying. With the FK cup kit on Tracy's car, I believe its a 35/40 kit (We wanted the 55/40 but it has something to do with pre 2003 MK4's and it catching on the swaybar or somethin-or-other). Cant say we've had any problems in the winter. Yes on those days where it snows a ton, we still plow, but its never stopped us from getting where we need to be.

If you're lazy and dont want to raise for winter, a cup kit will be fine. I personally like coilovers because it allows ME to choose exactly how low I want to be. With a cup kit, you just buy it and however it settles is what you need to settle for.

The thing with Coils is that you need alignment every time you adjust... so twice a year?
