Also, UrbanX quoted me 709$ for brand new tires. 225-40-18. What do you guys think?

Lastly, besides the fact that the car will be 4x4 mode for a week or two, is there any reason why I shouldn't put the wheels on before tires?

    Wheels have adapters.
Yes price wise that is on the mark.

I would honestly test fit the wheels because i think that they will poke out further than you think with the adapters. As i said if they are 8.5 wide they are most likely a BMW fitment 5x120 and will have a 20mm adapter. This brings your final offset to 18 front and back which will poke like **** on the front and wont work with your fenders unless you pull them, even with stretched tires. You are trying to get a 225 tire on it, your fender will start cutting into the tread of the tire, that is how much poke you will have. There is a reason why NOBODY runs 18x8.5 BMW fit RC's on a mk4

Sorry for any disappointment that this may cause.

18's on stock (non GLI) suspension won't look good.
700 is about right for the tires.
So they are they 8.5's and you got adapters with them? They're gonna have a lot of poke!

those do not look like the bmw rc's, no dish. I would guess they are the vw and that he got spacers not adapters. even if they are the bmw they have been done on a mk4 before just will take some work. Throw up a pic of said adapters

That was my other thought but he specifically said adapters so i am assuming he knows what he is talking about since it is pretty unusual for wheels to come with spacers, especially for that price.

Pics of adapters or actually measure the wheel.

And BMW RC's dont have a dish, they have a concave dont they?

ok so I removed the centre cap.

18x7.5 not 8.5. BBS RC 336 with VW logo carved on the wheel. So should fit no problem i assume?

Here is the look I am going for. In the picture the car is lowered + BBS RC 17inch.

                  What do you guys think?

Okay you will have zero problems with them then. 225/40/18 is the correct tire size for that size of rim.

18inch wheels on stock suspension may look dubious.
Who cares...I'll be on my 18in Huffs for a few weeks before my coilovers go in...ooooohhhh....aaaahhhhh. LOL

These are probably what I should get...
PSS9's have a great handling and are adjustable via the top cap which is extremely convenient, you can fine tune the ride for a cushier ride or a harsh "performance" ride in a few seconds
