So, seeing how there is a real lack of red cars on this board, and how few pictures there are on every other board of them, I can't decide on clear or smoked bumper lenses...I would think smoked to look more integrated, but has anyone seen this?
search vortex for some pictures.. i forgot to mention this last night.. use ebay for them or vortex classifieds because who the hell is gonna pay 80 bucks for 2bucks worth of plastic..
Yeah, I see the Ebay stuff, ghetto cheap at 10 beans a set......I know people hate when opinions are asked, but I want a clean look so I thought someone may have seen them! Did I really ask this last nite?? Wow...I'm out to lunch!

Euro rub strip is the only way to go if you really want a clean look
actually derick i kinda like my side markers.. i'm buying mikes old bumper from him in the spring and painting it for my summer front and putting my pwzo on that and keeping my current rock chipped one as my winter front.. less work not to much money..
Elaborate.....do I have to change the whole bumper?? Eventually I would like a Rieger r-rx, so if thats the case than it wouldn't be worth it...
Nope. Euro rub strip just replaces the stock one and clips right in, eliminating the side markers and holes alltogether. More expensive obviously (about $100 bucks + painting) but looks really nice. I'm pretty sure it would clip directly on the R-RX bumper.
The Rub strip.....
The Rub strip on the car. Look Ma, No side markers!......
If you don't want to dish out the cash for the rub strip, you could also do a 'ghetto' mod and have a shop (or yourself) paint the stock side markers to match the car. Here's my buddie's car with the markers painted........
It's all personal preference in the end. I think the clear or smoked side markers look good also. Anything is better than the stock amber markers
I'm with Derick on this one, euro rubstrip is definitely the way to go. The only downside is the RCMP will hassle you. City police are usually pretty good about tint, no sidemarkers, etc... but the RCMP are brutal.

well i know those side reflecters are there for a reason and all but couldn't you say that the side signal ones are those? or they aren't far enough foward perhaps?

IMO I think it all boils down to European vs. North American standards. Kinda like why we have DOT lights (I think that's what it's called) instead of ecodes. There's tons of other cars on the market that don't have side markers, so it wasn't a big deal for me to garbage them.
actually alex since u have a gti u cannot buy the euro rub strip to replace it only works on the jetta. to get rid of the sidemarkers for the gti i do believe u need a different bumper all together.

Actually, I believe it's Cdn law that all cars must have a side reflector at the front and rear end of a vehicle. If it's not a seperate side marker, then the front headlights must wrap around the side of the car. If you notice, our rear taillights wrap around the side of the car, which is why we don't have a rear side marker. Take a look at all the cars on the road, and you'll see that there's an orange marker on the front side of ever car (usually integrated with the headlights) and a red on at the back
Flanders, are we talking the sidemarkers on the bumpers or near the fenders? Cuz both seem to be unique to European vehicles. Are they both required by law?

flanders is right here in canada its the law to have a front and rear piece that reflects light so nobody is gonna tbone you i guess.. he's taking about the ugly orange reflectors that come stock neil
