  • Hello's and introductions

Well, some of you may already know me. I've been on all of the Euroquake tours, I usually drive somebody elses Lotus Esprit. This is my first time on a VW Forum on any kind of permanent basis. I work at Southland Volkswagen in Medicine Hat, which means I won't be able to give as much mechanical assistance as I am used to giving on forums (as it is considered a conflict of interest), however, I will be able to provide great deals on new and used Volkswagens.
My usual forum interactions are in places like Lamborghini-talk.com and thelotusforums.com where I get and lend mechanical experience to and from other members. So, not giving mechanical help is going to be new for me.

    I currently drive a 2010 MK6 GTI -- here's a shot:

and here's my favorite driveway shot from last year.. this was on a sunday when i had a fairly nice lineup of cars I was working on...

That's about it for now.. I've gotta run to the nightclub and help my wife out with her weekly show!

        Re: Hello's and introductions

LOL!! I'm not a drug dealer.. I just fix exotics. I learned early in my mechanical tinkering, that people who have $100,000 sports cars always have the money to pay the bill. And... it's kinda fun working on them and driving them. The white car is a 2001 Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 -- it had it's rear bumper removed to look more like a rat rod i guess. It's a flat pearl paint job... and it looks incredible!
P.S. I see that you have a farhenheit... and at the moment.. you have posted 337 times... quite a coincidence no?

          Re: Hello's and introductions

Welcome Mark great to have your knowledge here on VWs and the like. A couple of quick questions just more out of curiosity; if you enjoy and are that good at the mechanical why do you sell cars? Also are most of those cars local to you are do people come from farther away for your expertise.

I guess we can all buy old Lambo's now as we have someone who can service them!

Mark sold me my GTI; had a great experience and can't argue with the price I paid. He's a really good guy. Welcome to the forums!

                    Re: Hello's and introductions

Thanks for the comments guys! And Thank you Kor for the compliment!
As for why I sell cars instead of servicing them... I enjoy mechanical work as a hobby. I may fire up a full time shop at some point, but at the moment, it's a hobby that I enjoy. I also usually end up with the cars that nobody can seem to fix.. which means I spend A LOT of time on them to diagnose what's wrong. I don't know that I could actually make good money running a proper shop. As an example -- the Lamborghini Diablo landed with 22 (not a typo) engine codes. It was an enormous job and I still have one code I can't eliminate without the Uber expensive lambo scan tool.
Moving on to where I get them from.. all over really. There is one particular client in Calgary who has 15 exotics.. so he generally keeps me pretty busy. I have also had a couple of cars from Manitoba. It's a lot of fun to work on them and drive them. The people who own these cars, generally have several other cars and don't need them back right away.. they also tend not to care if you drive them about for personal use. I spent about 60 hours behind the wheel of the Diablo last fall... mostly trying to figure out what was wrong.. but some of it was for fun.

Basically, in the end, I'm a Petrol Head through and through.

Do the Lamborghini and the orange lotus belong to a guy named Nic?

                        Re: Hello's and introductions

The Lambo is Nick's, but the Lotus isn't.. though I have worked on his Lotus. The Lotus in the picture is an 02 -- and it's #99... so It should be owned by Gretzky, but it's actually owned by a doctor in Manitoba.
