  • Wudduya think of this intake...........

Saw this on ebay. Since all CAI's are really just pipes anyways, what do you think of this one? Looks like a decent product and has a nice appearance . Super cheap too. Kinda skeptical though cuz of the sellers feedback.

i would stick to a good brand like EVO or carbonio but you can always try it i guess.. i would be skeptical of fitment too.. kris and peter had a whore of a time getting there umm whatever C1 carries to fit right they had to shave a headlight (big wtf?)

I haven't actually bought it. Just wanted to get some feedback first. I do like some of the features on it like the genuine K&N filter and the incorporated breather return. Looks like it has "soft" mounts too and it's like half the price of AEM and all. Looking forward to hearing your about your expriences when you install yours.

You can get brand new AEM or Velocity intakes for < $100 US if you look around on the Vortex.

That being said, this one looks OK to me.

as long as the entire tube is made of aluminum or something that doesn't rust, then it'll probably be ok. some guy on vortex had a eurosport intake that rusted on the inside and screwed up his maf. think he had to replace it 2 or 3 times.

i have the autotech intake from c1. install was a ***** though. but the entire thing is made of 6061 aluminum.

I ordered the Neuspeed Race Series CAI through a Boxing Day sale. I can post some comments about it once it arrives... unfortunately the UPS tracking status got changed to "Exception" today. Kinda vague, yet ominous. I don't think its a good sign.

I chose it because I got a great price, I trust Neuspeed products, and based on construction details from their website.

If I had to choose an intake for second place, it would have been Injen E-series.

The major differences between intakes that people on vortex have commented about are:

              1. Material. Steel, aluminum, carbon, or plastic?
              2. Diameter. Some controversy about this, does it matter?
              3. Length. Again controversial. Is there an optimal length?
              4. Mounting bracket. Does it attach anywhere other than at the MAF?
              5. General Fit. Does it bend in all the right places?
              6. Hassle. Is it easy to install?
              7. Does it have a breather filter or hose attachment?

I like my EVO because the plastic is the same used in the OEM airbox.. it stays cold and doesn't absorb heat.. its 3" so good flow i spose.. it fit in perfect with no hassles at all. The thing I didn't like about installing it. My secondary air pump hose i kinda fugged it up orignal end so i ended up having to cut like 6 or 8 inches off of it to reattach the filter so if i ever put my stock box back on its kinda fooked there but whatever i can buy a new hose and put it on no problem

I just installd last night, and let me tell you IT WAS NOT EASY. Lots of removals but it is a TRUE COLD AIR INTAKE. The K&N filter sits by passenger lower fender/front bumper, next to the lower bumper vents.FRESH AIR! The pipe is all aluminum, so it wont rust and the sound of turbo and turbo backpressure is pretty kool.(i would buy just for the sound, scare sum foos on the road. LOL) I give it a 10 far as the intake and how its made for the price! but install is bit difficult because the pipe seems a bit longer then the competitors, but thus actually being a cold air intake. I give it a 8 for install, but 10 for how it fits( great exact fit). The piping goes behind the battery down towards pass. headlight. Oh yah and I took the guards(1pastic and 1 metal screens) off form the MAF sensor for more air. OVERALL I RATE THIS SETUP 9, loosing a point due to the 2 hour install. But a definite BUY FOR its around $100 price.

Pretty much every CAI is going to be a bit tough to install since you are going to need to totally remove the airbox and battery as part of the process. Then to get the filter on you either need to jack up the car and get underneath, or remove the bumper or fenderliner.

Cool. Any pictures of the finished product? Also, how was the seller from ebay (I'm assuming your bro bought off the same guy)? Just concerned about the amount of negative feedback.

Does it really sit on the passenger side? Seems like a long way to go. Can you post some pics?
