odd issue 2011 JETTA tdi

Hi Guys,

Got an odd issue with my Girlfriends Jetta TDI. sometimes she will take it for a drive, and after parking it the fan continues to run and not shut off. She has come out to find the fan running and she smells a burning odor. She has to start the car and wait a few minutes then turn it back off and then it seems ok. She has had a dealer scan a couple times and they find nothing. Any ideas?
