  • Any F23 Frankenturbo peeps out there?

So, after much thought, I am not sure I am ready to jump into the monster money pit of a BT setup. So I think I might go the F23 route, I see with the right support these little bastards are making 300whp..and it just bolts on. Of course manifold and some other stuff.

Curious if any of you guys have any experience with this setup, and if any suggestions on what clutch to run would be greatly appreciated. I just cannot seem to narrow it down, Spec stage2 has been my thinking thus far.

Good choice on avoiding the BT money pit, lord knows mine keeps my pockets empty In all honesty an F23 making 300whp is still going to be a money pit, you'll need all the supporting mods pretty much and they aren't cheap.

At the very least a VR6 clutch and flywheel will be in order. I'm partial to clutchmaster clutches, but that is just preference.

What all mods are you thinking in order to make 300whp?

I am leaning towards the Spec stage 2 clutch, maybe the stage 2+. I have a Quaife LSD sitting here ready to go in.

      Exhaust manifold, 3" MAF housing, 440 injectors(maybe 550), fuel pump,rods....other suggestions?

Doug from frankenturbo sent me the newest numbers and they are crazy 318WHP 299 torque. I have the dyno chart I just cannot get it to show up here lol.
Unitronic has posted numbers near 300whp with their 440cc tune, on 91oct(maybe 93), I should be able to get near that or push it over with W/M.

Those numbers are with fully tweaked tunes running on the edge. I'd say 280 is a more realistic number for a daily driver tuned reasonably.

Do you have exhaust already? I'd run 550 injectors myself, no sense running the 440s to the max. I assume you already have a larger intercooler. Are you thinking of upgrading your TB or intake manifold?

I think the F23 will make for a sweet daily driver, and if you do push it to the max with water meth, I think it'll be suprisingly fast on a track

F23 is bolt on for a tt225 but bolts on a mk4 with a manifold and some other things, the f4 is direct to mk4 also makes less power

Re: Any F23 Frankenturbo peeps out there?

The f4 will deliver a little less power ( around 250whp/270wtq) where as a f23 should be right around the 300whp/ 300tq but the spool won't be quite as good but still better than any gt28. Make sure you do rods tho with the f23.

But I have been following dougs thread as well and I'm sure he has a lot more to get out if that when he gets some rods himself.

If I make 280whp I will be more then happy with that. That 320 is pushing it, I was just showing what it can do, which is pretty impressive considering the size of the turbo. Apparently it runs quite cool as well, which will help extend it's life.

Ya I have 3" APR GLI style Turboback, and a kinetic FMIC.I might actually do the 550cc injectors I had thought of that. I will do the intake down the road at some point, right now I just want it up and running.

I am really impressed with the guys at Frankenturbo they are obviously really excited about their product and were extremely helpful. They threw in a bunch of extra goodies that they didn't have to, FrankenDV, and some other stuff.

Re: Any F23 Frankenturbo peeps out there?

So the order is in and should be here next week.
F23 frankenturbo, 550cc injectors with jetronic adapters, frankenpump(lol), ceramic coated exhaust manifold, MBC, uppipe adaptor, 3" MAF housing.
Doug has thrown in a franken DV, and a USRT relay harness(wants a review). I'm sure I am missing some stuff. I will be going with the unitronic stage2+ tune, and I will be getting some rods thrown in so I can push this thing.

                      Spec stage 2+clutch, Quaife LSD.

Thanks, but i'm just going to get George to chuck this stuff in. My new garage is not ready and the current one is not heated. I know it's cheating but
I want this thing up and running for my new wheels.

Before you go with the uni tune look into Motoza. He isn't the fast guy in the world but every tune I have recived from him has been great and the nice thing is is that the tune is tailored to your car, not just a out of box tune.
