  • Wanted: Calgary Advice

    Hiya,

I am looking to buy a 99, 00 or 01 Passat in Calgary in the next couple weeks. If anyone is selling, knows someone who is selling or works at a dealership, send me email.

I am also looking for advice on where in Calgary to get help and supplies for customizing my new Passat. This includes performance mods (chipping etc) and possibly cosmetic changes. Any recommendations?

Edit: Changed the topic. Thanks for the advice too. How about good body shops in town where I can get cosmetic parts painted? Or getting tint done on the windows? I know I can just check the yellow pages but I feel better if I know that I am going somewhere honest or experienced. Also I have heard some tint horror stories.

Oh yeah and whats the legal tint darkness level in Alberta?

Good luck in finding a suitable Passat, I'm sure you'll love it, my mom has a 98 1.8t Passat that she loves.

As for a tuning or modification store, your best bet would to go to Concept1 VW Werks. They're a VW only tuning shop that have a large stock of parts and have mechanics to install and fix cars too. www.c1vw.com

Thanks, this is great! Any other area shops that I should watch for? Also, any Canadian website-oriented parts dealers you could recommend to save me the shipping from the US?

Well there are many other canadian companies like PGperformance in BC, I think it is in Surrey and they got mad hookups. As far as chip tuning You may want to buy one from the alberta dealer, Simon who chipped most of the guys around here.
I own a luxury econobox..is that an oxymoron?

This is possibly the same Simon who posted above? Hey Simon, what chips do you sell/install?

Just for some background on me, I am *not* experienced mechanically or electronically so I am going to need to find local people smarter than me when it comes to chipping.

As pat was saying PGPerformance is a great shop www.pgperformance.com I've ordered a lot of things from there, and its canadian too so you save a bit.

Actually, this is not the same Simon as Pat was talking about, the other Simon is an authorized Upsolute chip dealer/installer.

I don't actually have the car yet, so that might be premature I seem to have lots of grand plans but without a VW they will all come to nothing.

With some luck, some visits to dealerships (and a copy of the Auto Trader if I can find one) I might pick out a car this weekend... then depending on how much cash is left I may or may not be doing these upgrades (although chipping is a must-have).

Thanks for all the support so far, even though I am a newbie.
