My jetta is having some major interior rattling problems in the dash( back towards the windshield some where deep in dash, I bring in my jetta to the dealership and the recepit states that they added foam under some plastic,( WOW SUM BS!) arm rest(wow, pos! this is my second and its worst) cracks and creeks everytime i breath...., and lots of windnoise(rear pass. window is bad...again brought to dealership and they charge me $25 to rejust my door that didnt need any readjustment and adjustments to car is 12month warrenty, so I ended up paying sum foos to do nothing really!). But the ironic twist is that the thing drives great, as far as the mechanics besides coilpacks. Any other jetta owners having these probs? or know how to fix on own or somethin? DAMN!

I have window rattles (not in the winter tho). Your dash rattle sounds like it might be the vin tag.

VWs rattle. If you want the dealer to fix it, you need to find exactly where the rattle is. (I had 1 fixed at the dealer - it actually was the door being slightly out of alignment).

My dub is the same as yours. It runs like a dream... but the interior rattles like crazy. I started with what I thought was the back window, which I later realized it was the latch where the seat folds down. Now something in the dash is starting to rattle on and off too, plus the front doors. Oh well... I'll try and fix it to the best of my ability... otherwise I just turn up the stereo

Its always something with the dealership. My driver-door is sagging, they won't fix it either and it kind of squeaks. But it does look and drive great, so whatever. I'll get a body-shop to fix the door for me I guess.

This winter my car has begun to rattle like a mothertrucker! (Especially one piece of trim that *someone* decided to take off and put back on to show how he knew how to, er, take parts off and put them back on again! - Thank you very much FD) And it's only 8 months old! Not only that, but I just realized the bulbs behind my Heating/Vent controls doesn't illuminate anymore! Quel frustration!

Has that happened to anyone else? Is it just a fuse that comes loose, or have the bulbs burnt out or something?

I had the same problem on my 2001 Golf, the heater lights would go off randomly. I fixed it with a little percussive maintenance, by whacking the area by the heater pannel on the passenger side with my fist. After it went out a few times and I hit it, it stopped doing it.

                        from vortex for chris

                        1 Fan position on "0"
2 Pull out Fan Switch ( may be a bit hard)
3 Underneath the Switch you will find a bulb
4 Replace the Bulb and put everything back together

Mine's not so bad yet. But I do get the odd squeek and rattle when going over uneven terrain.
