Re: hydraulic suspension?
because I have always wanted to run hydros since I was a kid, and they have come a long way since the 80's , with the use of accumulators they can ride as nice as a stock suspention, hydraulics will also ride the same through out the whole range of motion unlike air ride which has a sweet spot.
Don't get me wrong I love air but it is like iphone verses android. Just because everyone has iphones does not mean it is any better just more popular.Been driving VAG for longer then allot of the members have been alive

The benefits I see of air ride are that you don't have anything that if a leak develops it wont damage/stain fabrics, if something does leak, you can top it up at a gas station using a schrader valve and their tire station. The cost for stainless steel lines for hydro compared to nylon air line for air.
But props to stepping outside the box.

Re: hydraulic suspension?
Citroen has been using it for ages. If the french can pull it off, I can only imagine, you can. Albeit the Citroen we had in Singapore, had the brake calipers attached to the chassis and not to the hub/axle assembly. So when you raised it all the way up, the brakes just barely grabbed the rotor, which meant, significantly less brake power, and by significantly, I mean almost zero.

Re: hydraulic suspension?
I'm not too sure why you'd want to spend 10x as much on a Custom setup when there are full bolt on air ride kits for almost all euro's.
A hydro kit is also heavy as hell. Not saying it wouldn't be cool, I would love to see something different like that. I just think it's not necessary with the available air kits.
Edit: unless of course there is a bolt on kit that I am unaware of.Last edited by Slamtastic; 02-02-2012, 03:18 PM.

Re: hydraulic suspension?
it will cost less than just some front and rear xl's with manual control
I most likely will be be running a one pump 5 dump with two batteries
the front set up on a mk4 is easy just a matter of turning some pipe on a lathe
the rear is not that much harder hiem joints for the bottom and the top mount will need a little tought but should be easy to figure once I start to look at it harder
Do not get me wrong I like air just want to do something different. once I get some money together I will start getting parts and do a build upBeen driving VAG for longer then allot of the members have been alive

Re: hydraulic suspension?
been air , done that. probally will do it again in the future
that being said hydros are not that expensive
700 for dumps and accumularors
300 for pump
300 for cylinders and fab supplies
200 in batteries
it could be made cheaper or more expensive like airride depending on how. you want to set it up,hell accuair is even doing a elevel for hydrosBeen driving VAG for longer then allot of the members have been alive
