  • Help? Simple Single DIN Deck swap?

    Hi Fellas,

I currently have a single din, 5 yr old Clarion. Did the trick until I broke iPhone cord that connects of the back of the deck. Last straw, was getting irritated dealing with that cord, so I went out and grabbed a new deck.
That said it is fixable I'm sure, with a simple splice of the iPhone/iPod cord with any other one out there, and a quick tie together (solder).

Anyhoo, got a Pioneer-7300BT (bluetooth, usb, front aux in) Nothing terribly fancy, but will work well with my existing system, and be more up to date.

I was going to get it installed at Future Shop (YES I KNOW), until they said 2-3 hours @ $100/hr due to it being a complex with the gauges and whatnot.

I'm uncertain if it needs a new CANBUS harness, but will cross that bridge as I get there.

Anyone keen to help? We could do it in the parkade of my condo (victoria park!! HOOKERS!!! WARM!!), but may be better in your garage.

    I supply your fave beers.

Usually the same brands have their own connectors so you might need just to get that adapter. Sometimes you can get direct plug and play harnesses but some of the time you need to do some solder/splice.

This is your R32 right? Shouldn't be that hard, especially if you already have a harness wired together, just take out the existing harness and cut the wires and splice in your new car harness to the big black box harness that connects to the car.

On this topic i am looking to replace my OEM double din monsoon with my old radio from the last jetta, does anybody know how the factory amp is wired in and if i can just yank everything out or if i can just feed into it?

Pulling it out, is going to require fanangling the 3 gauges above the single din slot. I've tried just removing the existing deck, and it won't budge.

Tweedie, I'll call you later today.

There's some wires listed there for the factory amp. Bear in mind the factory amp has built in crossovers.

I am probably just going to pull everything out and run the speakers off of the head unit. Seems easier and i know how to wire that

you will either need to make or buy crossovers if you intend to use the factory speakers off the new deck.

The monsoon system is very easy to interface with. Standard VW harness, amp turns on with no remote turn on needed.

I got 2 amps, replaced speakers, and a pre-fab box. Nothing factory left. Played with it a bit, looks like the god damn gauges gotta come out. Oh, my condo flooded this morning due to a frozen pipe break. hahah. FFFUCKKK

So it uses the same connection as a non-monsoon system? If so that is great news because I already have that wired up for my deck

go to futureshop tell them you have a monsoon system and they will sell you the right adapter.... assuming you talk to the right person, its not any harder to install a headunit just because you have the monsoon system....
