  • Innovative Design & Fabrication - Drop Plates (Group buy)

    Hey everyone,

Not sure who is all aware but the latest and greatest thing is about to come to market! Bolt on hub relocaters for the MK4 platform, they relocate the rear stub axle further back and up higher to center the wheel in the middle of the arch and essentially lower the rear of the car more, even if the rear beam is bottomed out. This isn't just for guys on air, guys on coils looking for another inch drop and to move their creeping rear tires back where they are supposed to be can use them too! They also increased the total camber to 4 degrees

Anyways they are setting up a big group buy for everybody and a few of us (at least that i know of) are looking to just order together to save on shipping and help the group get an even bigger discount. They need 15 people (located anywhere) to start giving discounts and are offering even more $$ off for every 10 more that they get. I have not heard what type of discounts they are offering, nor the firm price of the plates but they were tentatively supposed to go for ~$200 a set a few weeks ago.

Anyways who all would like to get in on this group buy? Post up here and either Colin or myself can make arrangements and get the shipping done and hopefully get some pretty cool toys for the spring time.

Have they said if any toe is added with the plates to account for the camber? Or will shims be needed?

Judging by the photo toe has not been corrected.

I don't think it has been corrected either.

Hmm I may have to look into it some more then. I just got an alignment and my rear toe is already .35(L) and .15(R).

From what I've read to account for -2* of camber, -1* of toe is needed.

So for the -2.5* added, -1.25* of toe needs to be added. (A bit less to get me straightened).

It would be very simple and straightforward to add toe shims at the time of installation btw

Hurray!!I'm super excited you decided to join the nk4 kids again :P

But on a serious note I would want to add toe shims as well.

Airride is going on the GLI in march/april depending on the weather and like you I want to do everything at once too. Probably do rear brakes at the same time too so before then we need to notch my frame I am relying on your expert skillz here

Okay sweet, I may be in but still depending on price. I've seen a few places to get toe shims online, but I'm gonna check the alignment shop next time I'm in the NE because I haven't found a site that has exactly what I need and I'd rather not stack.

Are we having an install party?

Nice find... not sure if the drop plates are worthwhile for me, having a only modest drop, but they look pretty sweet - I think I'll look at their control arms when it comes time to replace/upgrade mine.

i wonder if the plates with 0º of camber have toe issues?

There are no plates with 0º of camber last i heard, they use the camber to account for the drop plates pushing the stub axle further out.

well that sucks, i would rather have my tires wear normally and use this instead of a wheel spacer.

whatever happens, im still in for a set

I am very interested!! If it centers the wheel for the air ride guys wouldn't it set the wheel back a bit for the guys on coilovers or if you air ride guys have your cars lifted? Is there a estimated date on when they will start shipping these? Also sounds like a group buy on toe shims is in order as well
