Car wont lock. Ideas?

Hi Guys,

So yesterday before work I'm leaving my car and i go to lock it with the fob and nothing happens. The light on the fob goes off but my car doesn't lock. i tried to lock it from the switch next to the drivers seat, and when i press the lock switch the locks go down for two seconds and then pop back up into unlock. Any ideas of what's going on here?

But does the explain why the car won't lock from the driver's-side switch?
I ask because I only recently replaced my batteries.

How old is your car battery?

Try your spare fob (assuming you have two?), see if that locks.

It means the latch on the drivers side door is malfunctioning. When the door is not closed all the way it will not stay locked. Maybe an extreme form of the failed sensor? Try simply greasing up the latch.

Sounds like failed door closed switch to me. Does the dome light stay on all the time?

Can you lock it with the key in the door? By the sounds of it you have the common microswitch failure. It could be as simple as a bad solder joint or as much as the whole assembly. If you just want to replace the whole thing I have one in my parts car for sale.

Also if you're a bit thrifty you could do the $3 source switch mod. Works like a charm.
