  • In need of some help

I had a leak in my intake manifold I changed the gasket and a few lower hoses on the bottom that connect to the intake made sure all hoses were in correct order and all electrical connections were all put back triple checked everything, went to fire the car started idling rough and check engine light started blinking , I heard a knock from a cylinder so i shut the car of figured it wasnt getting fuel pulled injectors turned car over all of them were spitting fuel put it back together , started to run fine but then back to rough Idle.

Im stumpped on this one my car is parked at my gym parking lot got all the tools I would rather not take it somewhere and spend big bucks , so if someone could help me figure this out I will shoot you some cash .... and maybe a gym membership im frustrated as hell

    could use some help please

    Thanks Dean

    What car is this?

If its a 1.8t my first theory is an ignition coil. Make sure that they click when you put them back in. Thats the only time i have ever gotten a flashing CEL. It will be very rough idle if one of the ignition coils isn't working.

Re: In need of some help

You may need a throttle body alignment. Maybe someone with vag comm in your area could do it for you.

        Do you have a CEL?

Re: In need of some help

You need to read that code and post back, to read the code you do not need vag com, a simple code reader will suffice.

Have you made double sure that all the conectors are back where they should be after you completed your work, and that no wires got pinched or damaged?

Re: In need of some help

Long story.... I scanned it and misfire on cylinder 4, changed coilpacks around, still misfired, pulled the plugs, new ones in, still misfired.

Dean have you figured out anything more?

It would surely 100% not be throttle alignment. Are you sure there is no vacum leak? If hoses were changed, maybe a vacuum and boost line were confused? Also, scan vag-com and what does your adaption numbers look like at idle?

Re: In need of some help

                          What CEL came up?

Is there any cracking in your wiring harness to the coils? Are your injectors seated properly? Is there any possibility that you damaged an injector or the harness when changing the intake gasket?
