Re: TDI Question - Diesel Additive

no idea on how to clean the intake. dont think i will ever know. lol

ya, since i've increased my iq (injection quantity) this adds more fuel per stroke, giving somewhat more power, and a little more smoke. the additive reduces smoke i think, and the style you drive the car. i never floor it under 2,000rpm. boy racer, who is the upp rep has a tdi, and people say his car smokes like crazy. he doesnt use additive i dont think, i did give him a bottle, but i forgot to ask if he noticed anything different.

a euro cluster may reduce smoking! ahah, no.

Re: TDI Question - Diesel Additive

My TDi smokes, but it isn't excessive. My car was chipped when I got it (aka "The Temple of Torque") and even when using WOT at every light, I still get around 1000 Km's on each vented tank (around 50 mpg). I do travel on the Deerfoot everyday, so that prolly makes a big difference. If I could learn how to practice some self-control over my right foot for an entire tank, I'd love to see what kind of mileage I'd be able to get...

I keep planning on using some additive, but never actually have. Simon mentioned that he had some a while back (Bart's?), but I haven't heard what he thinks about it.

Re: TDI Question - Diesel Additive

I think driving the dearfoot would help a bit less stop and go and we all know how we like to rocket off the line I haven't noticed any smoke at all but after driving my '85 diesel anything would be good in comparison. I am planning on doing rear brakes and cleaning the intake soon so if anyone wants to join me for an intake cleaning day let me know and I can set it up. From what I have read about the cleaning it is not all that hard and I have all the tools except a plier hose clamp and a large large heated bay to work in.
