I have a 2003 GTI 1.8T AWP with a intermittent miss fire situation. When it was raining thursday night I was driving home and it started to miss fire bad and then stall out on me on the side of the highway. I scanned it for codes on the highway and there was just 2 codes that have been in my car for a long time for heated oxygen sensor circuit on sensor 1. I cleared them as I know they will come back and waited a few min before starting it up and then it ran fine for a majority of the way home. Friday early afternoon it was nice so I went to check it out it did it 2 or 3 times a little miss fire and sputter with some blueish smoke out the back. But it ran fine the rest of the day boosted normal and was fine until my way home tonight it started doing it again really bad anytime I get into the throttle more than a tiny bit.
Coil packs are less than 1 year old replaced for recall, plugs are good they are brand new put in April removed them and gapped good none are broken, PCV lower hose has some holes/cracks that are taped up (need a new one) upper hose is good But my intake and MAF are all wet could it be just a wet MAF that is causing the problems? I have a autotech CAI and am lacking a bit on the inner fender department. Is there some other things I should check as well like N75 maybe? Other vacuum/boost leaks? fuel filter? I have not had any codes for anything but miss fire in 3 of 4 cylinders, the O2 sensor and the random/multiple miss fire code. Also when its missing sometimes at idle there will be no intake manifold vacuum read on the boost gauge and nothing to the brake booster.
Sorry for the looong story, looking for some input on this. has anybody else had a problem like this? I looked around on tex and there is a lot of threads about miss fires and had some people with the same problem as me but they sorted things out with problems I do not seem to have. Sitting in my driveway for a couple hours it also seems to be running fine now at idle after an initial start and shut down. Launch control it holds 5 PSI and no smoke anymore.
