  • 225-60-15 on A4 Jetta, stock alloys, anyone running this tire size???

I had some surplus tires around, 225-60-15 size, and I need tires on my Jetta wagen.

I rolled these tires on the rims, and they look a bit big, and sitting beside the old tires, the 225-60-15s are about 3/4" higher. But they don't rub anywhere, they seem to steer fine. After 2500 kms, I think they are running fine, not wandering in lanes and rain rusts.

So unless someone has a compelling reason to change these out, I think I'm going to run these 225-60-15 mounted on alloys as summer tires, and keep the 195-65-15s Hakkapellitas mounted on steelies for winters.

Seems kinda like monster truck tires on a jetta but rock em I guess. And yeah, thanks for the story. I can die happy now.

Your spedo will be off. From http://thematrixgarage.com/tire_sizes.cgi from a stock 195-65-15
          Difference 2.78% larger
This means if your car says it's travelling 60, it's actually traveling 61.67.

And...if your VW is like mine...it'll be closer on the speedo...but you will still be under what its reading.
