  • Dealer service = weak sauce.......

my VW's MIL came on, scanned codes and has a temp sensor code, checked and found that there is a 10 extended warranty on the sensor. I thought I would take it in to a dealer and have the coil recall done at the same time.
Dropped car off Monday night, car is still at dealer, I had to tell the S/A that there is an extended warranty on the sensor and he called VW to verify...
Really.... WTF.....Do I need to come and install it for you also. REALLY 4 days to change 4 coils, scan the codes and replace the sensor.... OH my....am I expecting to much to have this job done in a couple of hours.......So frustrating......

Which dealer? I had some extended warranty work done at Northlands and was surprisingly happy with the service I got.

Yeah, Northlands is one of the....not so good places I've had to deal with...and I bought my Golf there. Not one good experience...and questionable integrity.

I will say when I went there to look at the new vans I got ZERO service so we walked out. At least at 5th ave a salesman would talk to us.

update....oh you guys are going love this. After talking with the GM on Thursday he says he will look into it....call friday to see about my car, no Gm on site, no service manager he
is on holidays, they don't know who if any is the ass service manager. Talk with the s/a handling my car, it is good to go now, Good I said, now leave it outside the locked compound and lock the key inside so I can pick it up after hours, OK says he, you have an extra key, yes I replay ok then. Did not hear anything else from him, go to pick it up and guess what,....you guessed it the f$%#$%% car is in the LOCKED compound WTF REALLY how stupid are they,I really need to bang my head into a brick wall so I NEVER EVER go to this dealer again oh my **** is in such a knot I wouldn't be able to go poop for a year...........Going up on sat morning just can't think of the words to use, probable best to just get my car and drive away as fast as I can. Did I say they have had my car for 5 days for a coil recall and a coolant temp sensor that is under an extended warranty

wow that's awful. Capilano VW in Vancouver are fucking excellent, almost the EXACT opposite experience.

                    tough luck bro!

1 coil per day, its called productivity

Northland is where I got mine changed out for the recall and the fella there told me To drop my car off for an appointment at 9AM and it will be done shortly after that. So I did drop it off around quarter to 9AM and the service writer there told me the same thing, that it would be done shortly. After waiting around all day in the boring mall there I saw my car go in near 5PM and come back out maybe 10 minutes later. Not as bad as what they did with yours but when everybody tells me it will be done shortly after I drop it off for a 9AM "appointment" I do not expect shortly being after 5PM.

I went there to try and track down a problem I was having for a year, it was doing it then, and it almost never did it except for like after 4 hours of driving, and Im not going to drop my car of and let some tug-nut tech drive my bagged jetta around town until it started happening. Went in and talked to a s/a and explained this to him, he said yeah, I don't blame you, heres the number for one of my good friends, he "specializes" in modified cars. I asked him are you f@cking kidding me? I refuse to leave it at a DEALERSHIP, and you think i'm going to leave it at your backyard buddy's house?

Almost every time I have gone there, I have left pissed.

Its too bad that George's cousin Roger has left Northlands...he was the ONLY mechanic there that I let work on our car. Good for him though, he's gone back to school for some kind of engineering.
