    Warranty period
***12-year, unlimited distance warranty against corrosion perforation except for Routan.

Rust or Corrosion Warranty: Rust or Corrosion Warranty: This warranty covers the vehicle's sheet metal, and protects you from rust and corrosion that are severe enough to cause a hole - surface rust is not covered. However, if you keep your car washed and waxed rust shouldn't be a problem.

wow didn't know this. This has to be a loop hole on the dealerships end. Otherwise I will be going to make a drop in with my hatch issue and rust issues in the same locations.

What does vehicle's sheet metal mean? Replaceable parts? I wash my car three times a week and wax it every three month but still can't avoid rust...

        Re: Rust issues

I've been reading up on it for the past hour. From what I gather each dealership will differ. Rear quarters you have no chance. My guess is they do what we do at my work and take pictures and wait on approval and look for rock chips that will cause the problem. Since your right on the edge of this warranty you may luck out though if the service manager is nice. I'm going to re-install my rear wiper and attempt to get my rear hatch fixed.

sheet metal is any body panel. but I think they only cover fenders, hatch/trunk lids and doors really. The more I look into this it really looks strict

My trunk lid is starting to rust a bit around the latch too. Where it meets the bumper. It probably will not create a hole though. So I guess I'm SOL.

            Re: Rust issues

I tried having my old GTI's rust fixed under warranty. Went through South Centre VW, got quoted 1600$ by a body shop, VW canada never ended up getting back to me. It is my understanding that not very many people have good luck with them honoring their warranty.

Generally I think Audi is better at actually replacing or repairing rusted parts, my brother in law is getting his all roads doors replaced, pretty painless

I've had issues with my jetta wagon's rear hatch. If it is perferated, they will repair it. No hole - no luck.

My tdi has been showing some areas as well. I'm going to try and get it looked after in the spring.

Kills me seeing guys on vortex from the southern states and some of their cars are super high in milage but the paint is still looking pristine. Winter is a real exterior killer. I try to wash mine once a week if it's mild out enough.

                    Re: Rust issues

Just a heads up, rust warranty is a pain in the ass with VW and Audi. Usually anyways. Just so you don't expect it to go well and get pissed when it ends up the way it does for most. And if they approve warranty ask them to send it to Cosmos

This wouldn't by any chance be the blue allroad with us at cosmos would it? That thing is a beauty with the new doors!

Once a week is not enough lol, 3x $2 blasts per week is more acceptable.
