    Re: Rust issues

so i finally got around to taking the car into the dealer to show them the rust....such a pain in the ass. the guy looked at my car and tried giving my any excuse he could think of to say that they wouldn't repair the rust damage. finally after i gave him an answer for everything he told me to take the car to calgary coach works and they had to take a look at it too to see what they would repair. so i did that and the dude said he would fix one of my rocker panels and replace one fender.

i went back to the dealership after and the dude i talked with there told me that it was up to volkswagen canada to decide now based off the quote from coach works and the pictures that were taken of the car...he also said it could take up to 3 months to hear back from them. he also said that i shouldn't start to repair the other rocker panel that coachworks said they wouldn't repair anyways and that i should leave the car in the condition that the pictures show....

anyone else ever done this? does it actually take 3 months? would it actually be bad if i started to sand something that i'm not expecting them to fix anyways?

FYI, same company that owns Northland owns Calg CW... that's why they sent you there. I had my 02' Jetta in there to have a set of Votex bumpers & skirts fitted and painted... it was a nightmare. Things may have improved though but be sure to inspect the work closely if you do use them.

I wonder if you can take your ride to Cosmos instead?

When I had issues with both front fenders, Northlands sent up to Superior on 17th. for the estimate etc.

Sorry duder...but I didn't end up getting the warrantee work done...I was hit in November, and Cosmos did the accident claim work...so no more fender issues.

                Re: Rust issues

I figure I'd do a little update. The car went in today at SOS for the rust warranty work. Big thumbs up for Alice at SCFC, as well as Cam from SOS, it's been great dealing with them through this, they've both gone above and beyond. Thumbs up for VWoA for holding up there end too! (Will post pics of the rust when I get home)

I'm also currently going through another paint warranty repair through Honda regarding "crows feet" on the hood well see how they deal with the issue!

                      Re: Rust issues

I have to take mine to 5th ave tommorow to see the service manager, A very reputable shop is the one that sent me there for warranty as I went in just for a quote on the repair.... I was directed to this shop from 5th ave autohaus... SO they cannot say anything about where I took it.

I have both front fenders and there is a spot on the rear quarter that I can see the bubbles under the paint.

The other side Quarter I have to pay to repair since It is rusting and is my fault :/.. no big deal.

There's some rust coming from my rockers, and some on the bottom of my trunk, the car was originally purchased from northland vw, but I'm the third owner, will northland cover my rust warranty? 03 jetta. I just want to prepare myself before asking them.

Sorry jerry but don't even waste your time going there. most rust protection warranty is only covered for 5 years or something like that. I'm going to swing by a few body shops and get some quotes done myself

Audi's were 10 years I believe. But you had to have right through the panel. Ryan had the door on his Allroad warrantied last year.

Would the door blades on my rs4 be covered? They are have the typically wave in them from the rusty mounting piece.
