  • Help, clunking noise coming from FL brake

So here's the thing, I was driving in this morning to work and I got this metallic clunk when I applied the brakes. It sounds like it’s coming from the front left brake (driver's side). Unfortunately, like most car noises it can be hard to isolate while driving.

The noise is easy to hear and it occurs just as pressure is applied on the brakes.

Have not got a chance to look at it yet, I'm thinking it's most likely the stupid slider pin, don't think I have to go as far as replacing the caliper but who knows..
Was hoping someone would have some information.
If you have any ideas what the problem could be please let me know.
    Thanks

Just had the calipers replaced on my MK4 Golf, the return springs were seized, and it would make a def clunk too.

They replaced both calipers, thats a great deal to be honest. I was expecting about 800-1000 for both, I 'm lucky that the pads and rotors were still good...as they were locking.

how much are parts? It shouldn't take more than 3hrs total to swap both front calipers, including removing the wheels and bleeding them. It'd be an easy driveway job.

probably good you checked as well, i can't imagine a rock being jammed in there is overly healthy.
