Well, I got the R home.
Trip started in Phoenix where I purchased the R from a fantastic seller. Picked up the car in phenomenal shape. Left Phoenix around supper time, and made it to Mesquite Nevada, Friday night. Yesterday/Saturday, thoroughly enjoyed driving through Nevada, Utah, Idaho & Montana.
This thing pulls like a freight train.
Customs was a breeze at 1am. Wow, the weather surprise was not. I was anticipating snow. Not this mess.
Driving through Lethbridge, while crossing railroad tracks, I smoked an "ice-rock". One of those muddy, ice things that build up on tractor trailers, must've fallen off the vehicle because of the tracks. Few of them, made hitting one unavoidable.
Pics tell the story. Cupra R lip has been mangled. I tried to get it off, but it's jammed underneath the car well. Front drivers side of the bumper is cracked 4 inches and recessing into itself. Front middle section is cracked in half, and intercooler air-lines are quite exposed.
Wish this were a thread, with lots more uberness, but that'll have to wait. I'm exhausted, and a lil dumpy.
Car is safe, and will be seeing George on Tuesday.
Questions:
Cracks in the bumper fixable? (plastic surgery?)
Where to buy a new R bumper, and have it painted Deep Blue Pearl. This will have to be out of pocket, as I just went 9 years without a claim, and to have two within a month will increase my rates. Adjustable is $500, and the painted bumper <$1000?
Thanks as always, and special thanks to Nismo/both Colins/RONDAL for their importation advice. It was invaluable, and helped the process go smoothly.
ps, on the bright side I can get a bumper without the front license plate, amirite?
Cam
Front middle portion of , with crack, and intercooler lines.
More of the same.
Ugh, check that crack!
Front passenger side corner of bumper, is relatively unscathed.
thar she sits.
