Re: Help me find a mk2!

The actually G60 motor is fine, its just the g-ladder charger that is garbage and needs rebuilding quite often. but there are other options when it goes such as new aftermarket chargers or reflanging it for a turbo.

Thanks for the info! Looks like it is a pretty damn clean car. I'm actually seriously contemplating it, as even if it did blow up later on.. I could swap another engine in and rebuild it. As long as the car is clean, I can work on it to keep it running well, I have no problem with that.

As long as the new owner maintained it well, I doubt this car will need much work.

Re: Help me find a mk2!

that is my old g60. the guy i sold it to had it for close to a year and a friend of a friend bought it last week. i changed the cog belt and bagged the **** out of it all the time. it can easily keep up with a stock mk5 gti. if my e28 wasn't so badass, i would have bought this back.

and here's the low down on g60's. the chargers blow up because of poor maintenance. there's a small cog belt that requires yearly replacement. nobody changes them and like a snapped timing belt, parts collide. that's what causes holes in the sides of them. a poorly maintained example may also have an apex seal issue, which if isn't too bad, can be repaired quite easily. if the owner has had a blow off valve installed, it's also bad. i swapped that motor in from a friends corrado that had 200000kms.

          * apparently he's now selling it.

          * and i hope Dasauto doesn't buy it.
