Regular GTI is 200hp, .:R is 270hp in Europe but reports say 250 for here, but what the actual is we are not sure. The 1M is a cool car for sure but I think not in the same class as a Golf R and is closer to 60K so if you are complaining about 42 not sure you can afford the M. The Golf R is more in the league of the STI and I guess it comes down to whether you want all performance or maybe a bit of style with your quick hatch as the interior of the Golf is still way ahead of the Subaru, IMO.

1m is $53k i asked the dealer today put a deposit down i'm 3rd in line hopefully i can get one reading on 1addicts they are going like hotcakes!!! first deliveries start this may.

i rather pay the $10k more for close to 100hp, so thats $100 per hp haha

The 1m according to that magazine you linked Bart lost in like every category to the Audi TT RS in the c/d test results lol. You sure its the best? lol. I guess it depends what you're after.

Agree, I read that article and the TT RS kills it in all the tests that matter, they say its nicer outside, inside, faster, etc? Some warning signs for the 1m... budget-coupe interior... meh.

Cayman S is also highly affordable, they don't put it in these tests because it'd be unfair to the others

No ones knows for sure untill be get a price guide, us canadains are getting a more european based model vs the u.s plus we will only get a 5 door model with a 6sp no dsg plus a limited choice of colors

ya because of the dollar the canadian cars seem to be getting more for the higher price, for example i learned S4's in the US don't have headlight washers nor are they the plus headlights which turn!!! they do here...

my S is US spec and came with headlight washers.
are you sure you are comparing like packaged vehicles? ie. Canadian car thats fully loaded vs a non-fully loaded US spec vehicle

I think Bart meant current cars are often given more in Canada than in the US for standard features because of the higher prices, just as MK6 GTIs come standard with bi-xenons in Canada but are optional in the US.

what is the going rate for PDI these days at VW anyway? $1500 or so to pull off some transport covers?

We have taken nothing less than $1000. There are 500 units coming to canada. There are 130ish VW dealerships in canada so that in theory would be 3.85 units per dealership. There are of course a few smaller dealerships in canada that might not even want to attempt to sell a $40K golf so they might trade for more sellable cars for their market.

There are of course a few smaller dealerships in canada that might not even want to attempt to sell a $40K golf so they might trade for more sellable cars for their market.
