Re: Man Down ! Man Down! and Teaser of the replacement.

Those guys who imported, did you have the Manufacturer's Statement of Origin ?
I will have the title, b.o.s, >72 hours to customs before...

Just curious about the necessity of the MSO?

And to address the inspection concerns, I got that covered.

I never had an MSO for any of my 12 cars. Don't worry about it.

Have you filled out the customs and border export worksheet as well to fax along with the title and BOS?

        Cool, thanks Colin.

Honestly, haven't filled out much of them yet. I've been working through the checklist, and will be faxing everything on Monday or Tuesday. (been working on another big project lately too)

Question, will they let me export/import it on a Saturday/Sunday or will it have to be a business day / weekday?

Fill this out and fax it along with title and bill of sale, that's all you have to send:
          http://www.ucanimport.com/docs/CBPGe...tWorksheet.pdf

Yes you can import on a weekend. Have been through on a Saturday at 3am.

Park on US side first, go in, get your title stamped. Proceed to Canadian side, they'll ask you how much you paid and the usual are you carrying any guns etc, they'll tell you to pull ahead and come into the office. Pay your isht and get your paperwork there. Bada bing bada boom you done.

Mmmmm. I'd double check on that. I think only certain border crossings do weekend vehicle imports. When I crossed, it was monday to friday until 5 pm only. Also, make sure the crossing you use takes car of vehicle imports. When I imported my car, only certain crossings would process vehicle importation. Might have changed since 2009 but maybe make a call so you don't get stuck somewhere.

^^^This guy speaks the truth. It varies crossing by crossing. I tried to cross between Washington/BC and the port would only export between 9/5 on weekdays. Sweetgrass/Couts is a 24/7 365 port if that is your planned route back.

When you get to the Canadian side of the border to pay the fees, try to deal with a guy named Paul. He's a VW Enthusiast so he might make your transaction a little smoother/cheaper. No guarantees but worth a try
