Doh have to be registered to buy from there, ie be a repair shop etc. :(
It would have been some parts for the TDI and motor for the cabby
Can't wait to see your new ride though

Sorry Brent. I should've got on top of this thread a couple weeks ago, to give everyone a chance to bid on it -- I buy it (first right of refusal), and then sell it to one of you guys.

Ya I'll have to come to one of the meets this spring/summer.
Probably not until May though, as I'm in Europe for most of April.

So I have to book the Federal Inspection.
I've heard from Colin (eurodriver) & Popp on this, but like to hear if anyone else has good experiences.

It's limited to the Canadian Tire locations through-out the city, and Stampede Toyota. I'm apprehensive about their technicians. I live near downtown, so I'd prefer close to home.

The R, while heavily modded, looks almost OEM. Battery has been moved to trunk.

                  Any insight fellas?

I took my .:R to Toyota. Litterly took 2 minutes as the guy checked out a few things. Has nothing to do with a mechanical inspection so I wouldn't worry about it too much. You will have to do an out of province however which will involve a mechanical!

I would check with Paul at Bert and Jacks. Not sure if he can do them but at the least he can do an inspection if you need one for insurance.

No he cannot do them. Its either Canadian Tire or Stampede Toyota.

                            OPI is dumb.

                            Its costs $180
I got mine done at Keiths GMC in Okotoks, super good mechanics there.
make sure you get a "pre-inspection" form from the registery. costs $10. but the mechanic needs it before he can start.
                            and read through this http://www.transportation.alberta.ca...ualdec2009.pdf

Thats everything they check. My .:R almost failed due to window tint...but i used to date the bosses daughter... so it pays to have connections

Anyone import something like this before? With a turbo and everything, wondering what the inspectors will say about that

Its not going to pass an OPI unless the inspector is an idiot, an enthusiast or the car looks mechanically stock.

Or unless you have an in.

The RIV it will pass no problems.

                                Edited for less confusion.
