Looking through the compatibility table on the web page, it says it works with 1999-2004 Jetta Mk4, however it also says it does NOT work with a CAN-Bus.

Judging by the Bentley manual, The CAN-Bus was present in 99-04 Jetta Mk4's.

Anyone use this on a CAN-Bus equipped A4 Jetta?

CAN is a type of communication protocol that various control modules (computers) in cars - including VWs - use to talk to each other.

The Vag-Com software; shareware, payware, and own-ware; can read and interpret data on this "CAN-bus".

              read about it here:

              http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/canbus.html

K-line refers to the pin-out of the diagnostic port and the radio harness. Read here:

              http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/aftermarket-radio.html

The knock-off cables are simply pin-for-pin copies of the genuine Ross-Tech built cables.

The trick is finding a copy of the most current cable that works with the most current software that works with the latest model cars. The seller of a copy-cable is unlikely to disclose that the cable is not the most current.

              Buyer beware.

Update... let me re-think this, for 10 bucks, and several guys have said it works, this risk is not great. As long as your paypal account doesn't get hi-jacked, its only 10 bucks. 10 bucks is my own personal "curiosity limit", I think I'm going to order one, just to see what it is.
