  • Intercoolers Intercoolers Intercoolers

Dual intercooler installed. I made up all the piping today and will have to get it CNC bent so that it will look really nice but she's done. the current setup is...

Stock G/J Intercooler in passenger side location PLUS Audi TT intercooler in the driver side. My piping will keep the same intake manifold and have an amazingly short tubing path. I'll post photos soon.

The next setup will be a full AudiTT setup with all the pipes using stock intake manifold.

The next setup will be two stock G/J passenger side intercoolers with all the pipes using stock intake manifold.

The last setup will be a stock Audi TT passenger side intercooler in the passenger side and a stock G/J passenger side intercooler in the driver side with all the pipes using stock intake manifold.

I have 4 intercoolers at my shop and I'm making up all the pipes for every combination possible. Everything will be available for purchase next year.

I'm going to do a before & after dyno of the dual intercooler setup and I'm post everything soon so stay tuned. I've also got my Wideband Oxygen sensor kit almost finished another month or two which will be available from my website.

Can you post a piping diagram or something too? I looked into this but to me it seemed like the path would need to be pretty long if you use the stock manifold. Isn't the inlet to the manifold on the wrong side of the car after you go through the two intercoolers?

well the path is of course a little longer stock simply because there is an aditional IC. However... I'm using a totally different path thus all of the stock piping is not used. I'd say its about as long as any FMIC... Maybe a tad shorter.

I'm currently trying to find a good CNC tube bender to get a prototype made.

I finished making all the tubes and hooking everything back up... its REALLY awesome. Like, I am amazed actually. There seems to be like a 2PSI drop but I'm going to work on reducing that by shortening another path. The car pulls like mad and I'm noticing at high revs the things sounds way better and is also way faster. I'm going to keep driving around for a few more days with the current setup and then I'll get an idea on whether the setup is reliable. photos next week of the final work.

I think I may get some REALLY big wheels and get the GT Technik S2 bumpers.

I'm hitting limp mode now :( too much torque perhaps?

                  2psi drop?

What's the drop accross the stock setup (just one IC) and what's the average drop accross a FMIC?

To me, 2psi sounds a bit big....

There are good threads on MAP sensor clamping methods (I believe) on Vortex.
