I completed this mod on Friday night.

IT LOOKS VERY COOL!!! And is actually functional.

Install took just under an hour but it could easily be done in less. We were taking pics and seeing about different ways to refine the process. It was actually as easy as advertised. The grey finish on the Light unit is a match to my 2002 Jetta!

1- If you do not have airbags in your A piller tale it off and do the install right! FLANDERS assured me that it came off easy and it did...Step 1-> PULL! Step 2-> See step 1

2-We tapped in to the grey/blue wire in the dimmer switch to have control of brightness....not really necessary as the effect is nice and subtle not nearly as noticeable as I expected.

3-Use 22AWG wire as the 18AWG reccomended is a little big.

4- In absence of 3m ScotchLock Tap connector we stripped and soldered the wires at the dimmer switch.

5- The fit of the Unit was perfect and looks stock...no foam to cut etc...

The overall impression is NICE! The Dome light and Map lights are MUCH brighter!!! The ambience is subtle but really stands out in totally dark stretches....useful for reading CDs ore tapes without Dome light. Nice mod!

Thank you to BURG for his well lit facilities and help and FLANDERS for his soldiering accumen and SEXY legs

The total cost of parts was $94. This is without the additional connector that allows this mod to be done without cutting the original harness. Anybody has questions or needs info...let me know. Here are pics of the finished product (not my pics)

I have done this mod 6 weeks ago with the first batch of W8 consoles imported into Canada. It is one of the easiest mods to do. It is really cool to have the ambient lighting, better map lights and matching LED illumination on the overhead console.

                          Highly recommended!
