  • Starter for 06 Jetta?

    Hey Guys

My gf mom just gave her a car starter for Christmas. Its a pro-start 2 way.

    She drives a 2006 jetta 2.0T 6 speed.

How do these cars do with car starters? They make me a little worried because i know jettas are wired for good anti theift. Plus the starter seems a little cheap too.

Any insight would be great, we really dont want to get it installed if there is any chance of anything going wrong with her car. Also any guesses on how much install would be?

    Thanks!

Unfortunately starters in VW's are a pain the ass.

I work part-time in car audio (selling) at futureshop and last time I heard no FS tech or visions tech in the city will touch a VW. Any domestic, JDM etc up to 2011 are fine, but NO VW's. It sucks, but I guess they are just that hard to work on.

I talked to one customer who had a starter put in his 05 Passat but I'm kicking myself because I forgot to right down the shop name.

Also my other advise would be to buy a starter from the shop that is installing, if that is possible. Just ensures that if the starter is defective, the shop will replace it at no extra charge.

Otherwise I'm guessing you will pay about $400 for install, if not more because it's a VW.
When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

My friend does car starters for all the "hard to do" cars here in Edmonton, he had no trouble getting a starter setup to work in The new 2011 jetta with kesy. He also does piece work for garagewerks here, they do mostly high end cars, let me know if you would like his number.
