it looks like it is in the states. i need a price before i put a deposit, and approval from the wife. haha
i'm either buying that or going to start playing with my gti.
Autoblog reports that when it comes it will be detuned. The Golf R will only be ~250hp in north america, and no DSG option here.
250hp isn't even fast anymore. :/
A 6-speed peaks my interest on the new R. I could probably deal with the fact that it'll have 4 doors. As for the 250hp... a Stage-1 APR enhancement would fix that pretty quick.
Hmmmm.... tempted....

I suspect the 250 HP is just a marketing number to keep it a step behind the much more expensive TT-S. Look at the GTI and it's 200 HP and the S4 and it's supposed 333 HP. A number of dynos of those 'stock' show them putting that down to the wheels.
Fifty grand is an insane price, unless the dealer is adding a little on the top for themselves. The only way I would dish out that kind of scratch for one is if it came with free maintenance, detailing and handjobs for the warranty period.
the new dodge minivan has close to 300hp, you guys in your golf r's are not gonna be able to beat it hahaha
And with that... all the soccer moms on the Dodge Minivan SRT forums rejoice!
