I'm starting to get jealous. I don't want any payments at this time. So I won't get a new golf r. Good luck to those that do get one. Maybe in a year or two ill get a gently used one
Mine is here tomorrow, if in the morning I will be picking it up later, if not for sure Friday!!! I'd say that 15 month wait went by fast...but I'd be lying!
Ginch was kind enough to let me take mine for a rip tonight. It was pretty great.
It does everything better than my MKV GTI. Smoother, sounds better, quieter when you aren't on it, faster, better seats, better seat heaters, etc etc. The MKV was very good at masking how fast you were really going, the R is better. It could be a LOT of trouble.
The only gripes I could possibly form over my MKV is that it doesn't have the little cubby on the left of the steering wheel, the hatch floor is taller, and they keys feel a lot cheaper. Trivial crap.
The shifter is somewhere between my stock MKV and the same car with a Dieselgeek short shifter. It's en-route anyway.
It does ride too high, however the suspension hasn't settled yet. I'll give it a few months and see if it still has that SUV feel to it before I consider changing out suspension bits.
I may give myself a(nother) birthday present in May and do the APR flash, carbonio and HPFP. Or sooner.
The KESSY is pretty cool. I tried walking away from the car while it was running to see if it would turn off. I got half way across the 5th Ave parking lot before I gave up. Anyone else have a KESSY and know if it turns off when you get past a certain distance? If only they had put a remote starter on it it would have been perfect.
The sound system/nav seems fun, but I really wasn't paying that much attention to it. My GF, who is a big dub fan, was playing with it and said it was neat. She also said she is looking forward to driving it. I'll be able to have some beneficial negotiations around that.
The colour is MUCH better in person than in pictures. After seeing it up close I don't even have a shadow of a regret about choosing the RB over the CSG.
SOOO EXCITING!!!!! I suspect the spring spacers were still installed and thus the front end would have been about 1.5" too high. As for KESSY.. There is no limit to distance. You can start the car, leave you're keys on the counter at home.. drive 700kms.. and simply not be able to start the car again. It's not the cleverest of systems.. but, it is what it is.
