  • windsheild wipers? MK4 1.8T

got in my car today, started it, went to turn the windsheild wipers on to clean the snow off the windscreen and nothing. they were working just fine last night, but for some reason nothing this morning.

does anyone have any suggestions on where to start?

im thinking this is an electrical issue, as i find it hard to believe they would seize overnight

any help would be greatly appreciated

no noise, no nothing. turn the wipers on and nothing happens.

the fuze wouldnt happen to be in the fuze box, on the drivers side dash by the door would it?

if it helps any for information, the windsheild washer pump works just fine. shoot washer fluid onto the windscreen, but after that..nothing haha

Fuse number 24 and it's a 20 amp fuse. Maybe try and find the relay and give it a good smack too, frozen maybe.

Sometimes the arm pivots seize in the rack. If it is the motor itself that is bad I have an extra one I can sell you.

              ok!

as for now...the wipers are working again. i think you are right about the pivot arms, when i turn the wipers on now, everything sounds a little creaky haha. as for fixing the problem, i did absolutly nothing. got in my car after dinner tonight, tried the wipers and they worked

guess ill have to give the pivot arms a shot of ani seize

thanks for all your help guys! much much appreciated

Check that the pivots are tight on the arms I had a friend that the arms wernt tightened down properly 6 months after a windshield was done.

Glad they're working again. In my experience, the wipers will slow down on every speed...when the motor is starting to go.

Mine started slowing down. No choice but to replace the wiper mecanisim. Mine were seized past the point of repair. I think the mecanisim was around 150 bucks. Not hard to replace at all.
