I wonder why they don't sell that in Canada....with a TDI it would be a very cool vehicle.

                Re: Saveiro

I have a feeling it wouldn't fit well in our market, most north americans (excluding mexico) want big trucks, which is why im guessing nissan and toyota went from little dinky pickups to ones that rival most domestic trucks in size.

I personally couldn't see a use for it, I am looking at purchasing a pickup next year once I start my job (note the truck is NOT for work) and for me I want a functional pickup which means, 1- I need room for 5 people in the cab/ room for a dog or any gear I can't throw in the box, 2- it needs to have a long enough box to actually be useful. Not sure what the box length on the saveiro is but it doesn't look very big/functional.

Granted it is a sick looking truck and may fair well in the mini-truck scene but as for it being a profitable model in our market, i'd have a tough time justifying it if I were in VWs shoes.

Google search "chicken tax". It's a tax the US implimented to protect they're own truck companies.

i never knew.. that shredding Transit interiors is ridiculous. Seen a lot of those on the road lately.

There used to be a big market in the 80s and early 90s for mini trucks. I used to have a few of the older Toyota 4 bangers 4X4 trucks. They were a good vehicle that fit a niche. Of course the price was much less then the a full size truck. This new VW mini would be a good second vehicle...I already have a full size vehicle if I have to haul the family. Currently my Jetta is my second vehicle that I use just to drive back and forth to work....having a mini truck with good mileage could easily replace the Jetta and would offer some load carrying capacity.

interesting read, defintely would effect the US, however i couldn't find how that effects canada?

Most Canadian Mk4s came from mexico didn't they? wouldn't it be the same deal to bring in the Saveiro if it they thought it would prove profitable.

Its just for light pick-ups as far as I know. If canada built a VW factory they would sell them here for sure.

word, yea I figured that I was just thinking if it was profitable enough for VW to bring Mk4s from mexico to canada wouldn't they do the same if they thought the saveiro would fit the market?
